1.No single fix is a 10.
Dryer sheets, peppermint, traps, other pouches: each one does something, and each one leaves something open. Plenty of owners stack more than one.

Every RV owner has his own fix for mice in storage, and none of them is a 10 on its own. Here's how the usual fixes stack up in a stored rig, and the plan some owners use.
Steel wool + these pouches | Dryer sheets | Peppermint cotton balls | Corn cob pouches | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| What's in it | Steel wool where you can reach; peppermint, cinnamon and castor oil in a mineral base where you can't | A laundry scent | Peppermint oil on cotton | Scent in a corn cob fill |
| Is there food in it | No | No | No | Yes, corn cob is food |
| Where it usually sits | In the gaps, and by the spots you can't seal | Drawers and cabinets | On a counter or a shelf | Wherever you set it |
| What owners report | Too soon to say. This is their first winter. | Plenty swear by them. Some find them made into a nest. | "every cotton ball was gone" (one owner in our comments¹) | "four of the six pouches had been chewed on!" (a Fresh Cab reviewer²) |
Steel wool + these pouches¹ Full comment: "[name removed] my peppermint oil soaked cotton balls that I literally threw everywhere for the winter and every cotton ball was gone so it dont work."
² Full review: "I put 6 pouches in my camper because I saw a few mouse droppings... I went back a few days later and four of the six pouches had been chewed on!"
Dryer sheets, peppermint, traps, other pouches: each one does something, and each one leaves something open. Plenty of owners stack more than one.

Close every gap you can reach. A mouse can fit through a hole the width of a pencil.

One owner wrote on the iRV2 forum: "I like to prevent access and have covered every opening I can find. Problem is I can't find them as well as the rodents!" Under the skirt, around the plumbing, up in the wet bay.
Cover the spots you can't seal
Peppermint, cinnamon and castor. It's a repellent, not a killer. It puts a strong scent where you place it, and mice don't like to settle where that smell is.
See what's inside
A lot of pouches use corn cob, and corn cob is food. These use a mineral base.
Compare the fill
Plenty of owners swear by them, and they may be working for you. You don't have to stop. These pouches go in the spots a sheet can't sit.
Add the layer
You're already draining the lines and covering the vents. Put a pouch by each spot you can't seal while you're under there.
Pick my RV pack
Traps only work if somebody empties them, and nobody's getting to a storage lot through the snow. No poison either, so nothing dies in a wall you can't reach.
Skip the traps
Every pack ships free. Each size up adds a gift: the RV Protection Guide with the Travel Trailer pack, a Mystery Gift with the Class C pack, and Bug Spray with the largest pack.

"I have sealed what I can, but I know there are likely some places under the skirt, that I simply cannot access."
"I like to prevent access and have covered every opening I can find. Problem is I can't find them as well as the rodents!"
"We have tried all.... including the steel wool blocking any "known" holes and they still find their way in."
"…which for me included getting underneath with spray foam three times, because the critters kept getting in."
"Last yr after it was removed from storage and before the first trip, mice built a nest inside the generator windings. The generator had to be removed and repaired. This yr they built a nest inside the exhaust system. No damage, but what a stink when I fired up the engine."
"…Since my coach is kept at a storage lot with no power, next to a wooded area."
These have a mineral base, not corn cob, so there's no food in the fill. They also aren't meant to work alone: seal every gap you can reach, then put a pouch in each spot you can't.
We can't promise a mouse will never bite one. Here's what's in it: three plant oils in a mineral base. There's no corn cob and no food in the fill.
Nothing plugs in and nothing needs emptying, so there's nothing to check on while you're gone. Seal what you can reach, and put pouches in the spots you can't.
Plenty of owners swear by them, and they may be working for you. You don't have to stop. These pouches go in the spots a sheet can't sit.
You'll notice it when you open a cabinet. That's the point. If the smell bothers you, put the pouches in the bays and the spots you don't sit near.
Use them as directed. Keep them out of reach of kids and pets, the same as anything with essential oils.
No. It's a repellent. It doesn't kill mice, so there's nothing dying in a wall you can't get to.
